Course Description
This course will provide an overview of the NJ Analytical Guidance Protocol that went into effect on October 29, 2014 as part of the NJDEP Site Remediation Reform Act (SRRA) and the NJ Technical requirements for Site Remediation (Tech Regs).  The course will provide practitioners with a working knowledge of Analytical Chemistry, QAPP preparation & guidance, Data Quality Assessment (DQA) / Data Usability Evaluation (DUE), and Data of Known Quality Protocols (DKQP). In addition, the course will feature an interactive NJ laboratory report review session where the DKQP performance criteria exceptions are documented and the subsequent impact on data usability is discussed.

Program Moderator:
Ralph Kocsis, VP Technical Sales, Mid-Atlantic Region, Alpha Analytical, Inc.

Ralph’s understanding of laboratory operations, QA/QC, analytical systems and processes, and methods and regulations is unequaled. Ralph’s fields of expertise include sales and marketing, laboratory and project management with a specialized focus in inorganic chemistry.

Course Instructors:
David S. Robinson, LSRP, Senior Associate, Synergy Environmental, Inc.
Mr. Robinson has over 25 years of experience in the environmental remediation industry. David has served on the NJDEP’s Analytical
Guidance sub-committee for the last three years. David has published articles in prestigious technical journals and has presented papers at local, regional and international conferences. David is a NJDEP Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) and serves as an expert on environmental litigation cases.

Jim Occhialini, Vice President Technical Sales, Alpha Analytical, Inc.
Mr. Occhialini was an original member of the MassDEP EPH/VPH, Compendium of Analytical Methods (CAM) and Representativeness Evaluation / Data Usability workgroups that developed analytical methods, performance criteria and data usability assessment
guidance. Jim was part of the training team that assisted in the rollout of each of the workgroup’s guidance documents. In addition to the training programs, Jim has spoken on the topic numerous times at conferences, association meetings and webinars. Jim has over 35 years of environmental laboratory and consulting experience.

Glen Breland, Vice President Technical Sales, Alpha Analytical, Inc.
Mr. Breland was also an original member of the MassDEP CAM workgroup that developed the Compendium of Analytical Methods performance criteria. Glen was asked by the CT DEP to help them form a committee that resulted in the Reasonable Confidence Protocols (RCPs) that provided performance criteria for laboratories to follow and guidance for performing a DQA (Data Quality Assess ment) and DUE (Data Usability Evaluation). Glen has also conducted numerous presentations on this subject.
