Environmental Laboratory 101: What happens to your sample behind the scenes?

Date: March 27, 2018

Time: 5:00pm - 8:00pm

Location: Alpha Analytical, 8 Walkup Drive, Westborough, MA 01581

Program Description

Environmental analytical laboratories play a key role in generating the information used for decision making in support of environmental assessment, remediation and numerous other project applications. Yet typically, most users of laboratory services have had minimal exposure to the inside of an environmental laboratory.

The event will consist of a lab tour and 4 short courses that will bridge this gap and provide a better understanding of the inner workings of a laboratory and how to interact effectively with your laboratory staff. The courses will review the best practices for project set-up, filling out a chain-of-custody, placing a bottle order properly, online data tools, preserving  a soil sample properly for volatile organic analysis and discussion of the VOA RL’s & MDL’s.

A scheduled tour of the laboratory  facility will also take place. The tour will track the path of a sample through the laboratory providing an understanding of the what happens behind the scenes in log-in, storage, prep, various analytical departments and reporting.

A lite array of appetizers and  beverages will be provided during the networking session
